Teddy Andersen doesn't have a plan. She's never needed one before. Suddenly, everything feels like it's starting to change. Teddy's used to being a leader, but now she feels like she's getting left behind, wondering if the life she lives in the small town she loves is enough for her anymore.

Gus Ryder has always been the dependable one, but when his workload starts to overwhelm him, he slips up, and he has to admit that he can't manage everything on his own. He needs help. His little sister's best friend, the woman he can't stand, is not who he had in mind. But when no one else can step in, Teddy's the only option he's got.

Teddy decides to use the summer to try and figure out what she wants out of life. Gus, on the other hand, starts to worry that he'll never find what he needs. For the first time ever, Gus and Teddy start to see each other in a different light. As new feelings start to simmer below the surface, they must decide whether or not to act on them. Can they keep things cool? Or will both of them get burned?

my review
I wanted to love this book so much. It had all the things I usually love in a book, single dad, hate to love, but something about it just didn’t hit as well as I hoped it would.
By the end of the book I couldn’t put it down but it took a while to get to that point. I think reading all three rebel blue books back to back to back may have been the reason for this. While it was fun to stay in the universe, I was wanting more of some couples and less of others. There were definitely a lot of parts I really enjoyed. I loved the whole nanny x single dad dynamic. It wasn’t too forced and I loved seeing the bond that Riley and Teddy were building.

Teddy was a strong character. She seemed to always be there to help those in need despite what was happening in her own life. The bond she and her dad have with the Ryder family was cute and her friendship with Emmy was a big point in the story.

Gus is the dependable older brother who thinks he can do it all. He was a really good father to Riley no matter how overwhelmed he was with the Ranch. The scenes with him, Teddy, and Riley were some of my absolute favorites.

There were just points in the story were it felt like Gus and Teddy would never get over their supposed “hate” for each other. Gus’s broodiness was almost too much at points and Teddy had enough things happening in her life without fighting with Gus. But once they got together, I enjoyed their dynamic and relationship.

I am really looking forward to reading about Cam and Dusty in the next one!!
